日本の道具2 涼の器と夏のしつらえ
東京六本木にあるインテリア雑貨からステーショナリー、書籍、家具まで揃うインテリアショップ.リビング・モティーフでは、6月9日(木)～7月11日(月)まで「日本の道具2 涼の器と夏のしつらえ」が開催されます。
作り手と売り手をつなぐ「ひとり問屋」として、日野明子氏がこれまで日本中を巡って出会ってきた日本の道具。昨年に続いて二回目となる本展示では、夏の食卓を涼やかに彩る器や道具に目を向け、茶・酒・蕎麦、三つの切り口でご紹介します。
千利休が残した言葉に「夏はいかにも涼しきように」とあります。涼やかさは心くばりや工夫によって目や耳で感じることができるという教えです。ガラスや竹など、見た目も涼しげな素材で演出することも大切な要素のひとつです。器の他に、うちわや蚊遣りなど夏におすすめの道具も販売します。
涼の器と夏のしつらえで、四季のある日本に暮らす喜びを感じてみてはいかがでしょう。

Breezy vessels and summer wares
As a “one-man wholesaler”, linking creators and sellers, Ms. Akiko Hino has traveled the whole country in search of Japanese utensils. This exhibition, which follows from the previous year, features eye-catching vessels and utensils which promote the notion of cool refreshment at the summer dining table; introducing a set of three perspectives centered on tea, sake and soba.
In the words of Sen no Rikyu, ‘In summer, try to evoke coolness’. Teaching us that coolness can be felt with the eyes and ears through care and dedication. One key component to this is the use of materials such as glass or bamboo, which are cool to the eyes.
With breezy vessels and other summer wares, why not enjoy the joy of living in Japan as a country with all four seasons?
